FAQ – frequently asked questions
Which toboggan runs are there in Bergün and how do I get there?
There are two toboggan runs, both ending in Bergün.
Preda–Bergün: difficulty easy to medium (when icy), a wide track, ideal for beginners, families and relaxed riders. Illuminated in the evening.
Up to Preda by train (17 min).
Darlux–Bergün: difficulty medium to hard (depending on weather). Considerably steeper, tighter curves, through the forest – not for nothing called the «Lauberhorn of toboggan runs». For experienced sledgers.
Up by chairlift (20 min). The valley station is at the end of the Preda descent.
Our tip for a first visit: start with Preda–Bergün. At the bottom you can decide whether to head up to Preda again or try Darlux.
How do I get to Bergün and Preda for sledging?
By train – the most convenient way. Take the RhB directly to Preda. From there you start straight into the Preda–Bergün descent.
By car. All cars arrive in Bergün – there is no road to Preda. You can park at the large car park at the village entrance right by the station. From there a train leaves for Preda every 30 minutes.
Good to know: book online with us and you travel once free of charge from Bergün to Preda – where your sledges and other booked items are already waiting.
And then? At the end of the descent you arrive at the valley station of the Darlux chairlift. From there you have two options: walk through the village to the station and head up to Preda again – or take the chairlift to Darlux and ride the second run.
Darlux only? There is a small car park at the chairlift. It’s worth it when there is little traffic and not too much snow.

Which tickets do I need for sledging? Are single rides available?
There is a combo day pass (full days only) and single rides. All tickets include the toboggan run fee.
Combo day pass – best booked together with your sledge:
- Unlimited train rides to Preda
- Unlimited Darlux chairlift rides
- Unlimited descents on both runs
For most guests the combo day pass is the simplest solution and the cheapest from three descents onwards.
Single rides from Preda only cover the toboggan run fee for one descent. The uphill ride is not included – you buy the train or chairlift ticket separately.
Where can I buy tickets?
- Online right here on the site – 15% cheaper
- On site at Mark Sport in Bergün and Preda
- At the Darlux chairlift
- At the ticket machine at the toboggan run in Preda
- At all RhB stations
Single rides are only available from Preda, not from Bergün.
What is a 1/2 Tax day pass?
The half-fare card is the railway’s Half Fare travelcard – it gives you a discount on tickets. It has nothing to do with a half-day pass, which is often confused.
We only have two ticket types: single rides and combo day passes – no half-day passes. To the price overview
What is included in the sledging ticket?
No, the combo day pass is only valid within the sledging area. A ticket to Bergün or Preda has to be purchased separately.
Do GA, Half Fare or train tickets count for sledging?
Train tickets from SBB or RhB to Bergün or Preda do not include the toboggan run fee and no uphill rides for sledging (Preda or Darlux).
Sledging always requires a sledging ticket.
With GA, Half Fare, Junior card or children’s fares you do get reduced prices on the sledging tickets.
Where can I rent a sledge?
The most convenient way is to book online – then you save 15% and pick your sledge up directly in Preda. Or on site, either at Mark Sport in Bergün opposite the ice bar or in Preda at the station.
Can I rent in Preda and return in Bergün?
Yes, that’s actually the best way. Book online, pick up in Preda. The sledges are returned at Mark Sport in Bergün, right next to the ice bar. Here you’ll find all the info about renting a sledge.
Can I use the sledge for several descents?
Yes of course!
You rent the toboggan per calendar day and can return it until 11 pm on the rental day at the Mark Sport shop in the village centre.
Can I cancel my online booking?
Yes. In principle you can reschedule or cancel your booking up to 24 h before the booking date -> an email is enough: info@schlittel-bahnorama.ch
For a cancellation, please state this explicitly in the email so that we can transfer your money back.
If the run is not rideable on the day of your booking, we also refund your money, less a 5.– processing fee. Please talk to us in the shop in Bergün.
A processing fee of 5.– applies to every cancellation.
How long is a descent and how often can I ride?
Depending on speed and conditions the descent takes 20–30 minutes – on both runs. Add the uphill ride: by train to Preda 17 minutes, by chairlift to Darlux 20 minutes.
Reckon on roughly one hour per descent in total. With the combo day pass you can ride as often as you like.
Is sledging suitable for children and beginners?
Yes. Preda–Bergün is ideal for beginners. Important: brake before the curve, especially before the first 2 curves.
Children ride with adults; from about 10 years also on their own. (Only pets are not allowed.)
Darlux–Bergün is more sporty.
Here you’ll find safety tips and sledging advice so you arrive at the bottom safe and full of joy.
When is the season and are the runs open?
The season usually runs from mid-December to mid-March (depending on weather and snow).
Current information on the start and end of the season, as well as notes on weather or closures, is always shown above the menu bar on this page (white area).
What are the snow and track conditions?
You’ll find all information on snow, operations and webcams updated daily under News.
Are there group discounts?
Yes of course!
For bookings from 20 toboggans, contact us directly at info@schlittel-bahnorama.ch or via our contact form.
Why can't I book a sledge on a certain date?
When demand is very high there are still enough sledges to rent on site, but not all models – so online booking is paused for that period.
By the way, we have never run out of sledges 😉
Can I ride every sledge on both runs?
Yes. With fresh snow or wet, soft snow we recommend the Bergüner Toboggan for Darlux–Bergün: the run can then develop larger bumps, to which very agile models react sensitively.
Please treat the rental equipment with care – the renter is liable for damage.
When is the best time for sledging?
It’s quickest right at 9.30 am or from 1 pm. Most guests arrive between 10 am and noon.
Weekdays are generally quieter – the calmest time is January, once the holidays are over.
Are there sledges for several people?
Yes, the Bergüner Sledge, Bergüner Toboggan, Bergüner Carving Toboggan and Bergüner Racing Toboggan are available as 2-seaters. The Bergüner Silverlight and the Carving Toboggan Kids are single seaters only.
For safety reasons we don’t offer sledges for three or more people. In that case please take two sledges – it’s safer and more fun too.
Until when can I rent a sledge in Preda?
Our handout point in Preda is open all day – MON 9.30 am–4.30 pm, TUE–SUN 9.30 am–8.30 pm, with no lunch break.
Important for night sledging: the run operates Tue–Sun until 11 pm, so longer than the Preda rental. Pick your sledge up in good time in the evening – or rent in Bergün at Mark Sport, open until 10.30 or 11.30 pm.
